Membership Classifications

Beach Grove takes pride in its status Windsor and Essex County’s premiere family focused golf and country club.  All members of the Club must be approved by the Board of Directors, and sponsored by three active members in good standing.  Upon acceptance, the member agrees to be bound by all by-laws, policies, rules and regulations of the Club.  Memberships are neither transferable nor refunded upon the resignation of a member.
 
Beach Grove Golf & Country Club membership currently consists of the following classifications (Initiation fees and categories may vary from time to time, according to occasional opportunities offered to potential new and returning members):
 
General (G)
Privileges include full family golf privileges, curling, swimming, dining, social events and clubhouse.  A General membership is obtained by reaching the top of the Restricted List, as an opening becomes available. (HST Applicable)
 
Initiation Fee: $12,500.00
Dues Schedule: $307.34/month
Capital Fund Charge: $40.00/month
Minimum Spending: $1,000.00/annual
Share Required: $500.00
 
Golf Privileges:
Shareholding General Members may play as follows:
          Monday: unrestricted except July & August when times are restricted until after 11:00 a.m. to accommodate the junior player development program; Holidays are not subject to this restriction in July or August.
          Tuesday to Sunday and Holidays: unrestricted
 
Spouses of General Members may play as follows:
          Monday: unrestricted except July & August when times are restricted until after 11:00 a.m. to accommodate the junior player development program; Holidays are not subject to this restriction in July or August.
          Tuesday to Friday: unrestricted
          Saturday & Sunday: after 10:00 a.m. May access tee times beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday if a tee time is open 24 hours in advance, by calling the golf shop.
          Holidays: after 9:00 a.m.
 
Social (S)
Social membership includes full Clubhouse privileges: dining, pool, curling, social events and golf four times per month, with the payment of green fees.  A Social membership may be changed to General membership, upon request to and approval of the Board of Directors with appropriate increase in dues. (HST Applicable)
 
Initiation Fee: $12,500.00
Dues Schedule: $114.41/month
Capital Fund Charge: $16.00/month
Minimum Spending: $1,000.00/annual
Share Required: $500.00
 
Golf Privileges: Social members may golf four (4) times per month, with the payment of green fees.  Social members may book tee times two days in advance, and are eligible to play in Club events, subject to a 10-day advance registration.

Curling members at Beach Grove enjoy full Clubhouse and Curling privileges for the entire family, including spouse and children under 19 years of age, for the duration of the membership.  There are no golf privileges with the Curling memberships. (HST Applicable)

Dues Schedule:$76.84/month
Capital Fund Charge: $16.00/month
Minimum Spending: $1,000.00/annual
Share: None required

Privileges: Dining, Curling, Clubhouse, Swimming Pool
Enjoy the Beach Grove Clubhouse year round, and participate in dining, summer concert events, swimming programs, curling programs and leagues and pool usage.  Dining & Curling members may golf as the guest of a shareholding member.
 
Intermediate
This membership may be held by any son or daughter of an active shareholding member, provided he/she has reached the age of 19, but has not exceeded the age of 29.  Intermediate members cannot own a share until the age of 29, at which time the purchase is mandatory. (HST Applicable)
 
Note: Members’ children who have not joined the Club upon reaching the age of 19, have no privileges.  There is no initiation fee from 19-22 years of age.  Intermediates may join as Golf, Social, or Out of Town members. Initiation Fee and Minimum Spending begin at age 23.
 
Note: Intermediate Curling membership may be granted to any registered student sponsored by an active shareholding member, provided he/she has reached the age of 19, but has not exceeded the age of 29. Members do not own a share but need to either join the Club at age 29 as a General, Social or Dining/Curler or forfeit all privileges. Initiation fees at the time of joining will apply. Shareholder member will be responsible for any unpaid dues or fees of the Intermediate Curler. This is a curling season only membership. If sponsor member leaves the Club the IC member must find a new shareholder sponsor or privileges are cancelled immediately.

Intermediate Golf (IG)

Intermediates have the option, until the age of 29, of stepping up to the Restricted List B.  If an intermediate chooses to go onto the restricted list, he or she loses intermediate status, becomes a restricted member and is issued a share.  His or her privileges will be as a Restricted member.  Upon reaching 29, the Intermediate is automatically placed on the bottom of B list and issued a share.
Minimum Spending begins at 23: $500.00
 
Intermediate Social (IS)
Members may golf four (4) times per month with the payment of green fees at Restricted times.  They have curling and clubhouse privileges.
Minimum Spending begins at age 23: $500.00
 
Intermediate Out of Town (IOT)
An Intermediate Out of Town member has the same privileges as an Intermediate Social member, but must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the Club.
Dues are billed yearly in March.
Dues Schedule: $316.57/annual
Capitol Fund Charge: $92.00/annual
Minimum Spending: N/A
 
Intermediate Curling (IC)
Members may not golf.
Minimum Spending: $250.00
 
Junior Curling (JC)
Junior Curling membership status may be granted to any registered student sponsored by an active shareholding member, provided he/she has not reached the age of 19.   Shareholder member will be responsible for any unpaid dues or fees of the Junior Curler. This is a curling season only membership. If sponsor member leaves the Club the JC member must find a new shareholder sponsor or privileges are cancelled immediately.
Annual Registration Fee: $50.00
Due: No monthly dues
Minimum Spending: No minimum spending
 
Legacy Membership
A Legacy membership allows any son or daughter of a shareholding member to join the Club, one time only, after his or her 29th birthday, at a special initiation fee of 50% of the then current initiation fee. Qualifying applicants shall be placed on the Restricted List A.  The sponsoring shareholding parent must be a member in good standing. (HST Applicable). This program has been expanded to include brother, sister, father, or mother of the member. No other incentives apply to those joining under Legacy.

Initiation Fee: 50% of Current initiation fee for General Membership.
Payment terms: One half paid at time of application, and the balance payable over five years, in equal installments.
Minimum Spending: $1,000.00 per year according to the month of the shareholder’s birthday.
Share Required: $500.00
 
Senior (Sr.)
To qualify for Senior status, a member must have a combined age and years of continuous membership totaling 85.
The minimum age at which this is attainable is 65.
Minimum Spending: $1,000.00/annual (unless above the age of 75, $750.00/annual)
Senior Categories available: Senior General / Senior Social
 
Super Senior (SS)
Dues Schedule:$184.40/month
Capital Fund Charge: $40.00/month
Minimum Spending: $1,000.00/annual (unless above the age of 75, $750.00/annual)
Share: None required
To qualify as a Super Senior, a member must have a combined age and years of continuous membership totaling 85.  Member and/or spouse are entitled to play 40 combined rounds of golf per year.  Rounds over 40 will be allowed at a green fee of 75% of the regular green fee. Golfing privileges will be the same as a Restricted member.
 
Dues are 40% less than current General membership dues. Members will be free from any future assessment, and the share must be redeemed.
The minimum age at which this is obtainable is 65.
Minimum Spending: $750.00/annual
 
Out of Town Designation (OT)
Dues Schedule:$316.57/annual
Capital Fund Charge: $192.00/annual
Minimum Spending: None
This membership class is not available until after one has joined the Club.
An existing shareholding member who does not maintain a residence or place of business within a seventy-five (75) mile radius of the Club qualifies for an Out of Town designation.  Such member shall have the privileges of a Social member.
 
Out of Town members who previously held General membership status returning within the 75 mile radius of the Club will be put on the bottom of the appropriate list, (Restricted List C).  Out of town dues are billed in March and prorated based on the month the designation became effective.  The Club maintains a map that identifies the 75-mile radius.  Out of town Members are granted two free rounds of golf per season, with no restrictions on when they can play.
 
Leave of Absence
Non-Medical Leave of Absence
This request must be due to exceptional circumstances. It is granted for a 2-year maximum, and the member is charged with a classification change. All accounts must be current at the time of the request for the leave. When a member requests to return to an active membership, all dues, capital fees and assessments must be paid retroactive to the leave date. Food and beverage minimums will be prorated for the balance of the yearly date. Members will go to the bottom of appropriate list, (List C). The share can only be refunded after the two-year maximum period. All requests for a non-medical leave of absence will be reviewed by the Membership Committee, in confidence, prior to the request going to the Board for final approval.
 
Medical Leave of Absence
This request must be for life threatening illnesses and accompanied by a Doctor’s note. It is granted for a 2 year maximum. All accounts must be current at the time of leave. When a member requests to return to an active membership, all past capital charges and assessments will have to be paid in full, retroactive to the leave date. Members will go to the bottom of appropriate list upon return. All requests for medical leaves of absence will be reviewed by the Membership Committee, in confidence, prior to the request going to the Board for final approval.
 
Corporate Membership
The Corporation owns one share, which must be designated for voting purposes.  The Corporation's membership is subject to Board approval.  The Corporation may nominate individuals of the Corporation to Corporate Memberships classification, subject to completion of the Club's application and acceptance by the Board through Beach Grove's standard practices.

The initiation fee for the first nominated individual is the current initiation fee at the time of purchase, plus 25%.  The Corporation may add up to four additional individuals, subject to payment of an initiation fee of 75% of the initiation fee current at the time of purchase.  Each individual shall be subject to the same dues and capital schedule as General member.  Each Nominated individual may be replaced at any time by the Corporation, by application, subject to Board approval, and a $1,000 transfer fee.

Corporate nominated individuals will have the same privileges as current shareholding General members, excluding voting privileges.  There will be no Social or Dining Corporate Classification.  All dues & fees must be maintained regardless of whether or not the Corporation has a designated Corporate Member.  If the Corporation wishes to cease dues and fees on additional Corporate Members, it must in turn re-purchase the Corporate Membership should it be decided to fill that position at any time in the future.

Full Initiation fee payment must accompany each application.  Applications will be placed in sequence, should there be a restricted wait list in place at that time.

Heritage (He)
Dues Schedule:None
Capital Fund Charge: $16.00/month
Minimum Spending: N/A
Share: None Required
Members 75 years of age and older, with 30 years of consecutive membership qualify for Heritage designation.  The member must request this designation, and Board approval is necessary. (HST Applicable)
 
Privileges include dining and use of the pool only.  There are no monthly dues or minimum spending.  A nominal capital fund fee, based on the dining membership is charged monthly.  The share must be returned. Heritage Members are eligible to play golf two times a month, and pay a reduced greens fee rate, equivalent to 75 percent of the regular greens fee rate. Heritage Members may not bring guests, and may only play during guest hours.
 
Heritage classification entitlement is transferable to the spouse upon death of the original member. The status is not transferable thereafter. The surviving spouse of a Heritage member need not have attained the necessary qualification of age, nor consecutive membership, to be eligible to have the membership transferred into their name.
 
Honorary Memberships (H)
Honorary memberships may be awarded by the Board of Directors in recognition of distinguished service to Beach Grove Golf & Country Club.
Minimum Spending: N/A
 
Membership Fees
The Board of Directors may from time to time establish the price to be paid for Treasury Shares, Transfer Fees, Initiation Fees, and Annual Dues for the various classifications.  For billing purposes, the effective date of membership for a person whose application has been approved by the Board of Directors is the first day of the month, following the approval.
 
Initiation Fee
Fees are payable upon application for membership unless otherwise authorized by the Board.
 
Share Certificate
A share certificate must be purchased with the payment of the initiation fee. A share entitles the voting member to voting privileges, and the right to hold office in the Club. Only one share will be issued per membership. The share may be registered in either spouse’s name, and the shareholding member will be entitled to vote at the shareholders’ meeting, and will carry the family membership in his or her name.  Dining & Curling and Intermediate members cannot own shares in the Club. Members under 29 years of age cannot purchase a share, unless the Intermediate accepts the General category.
 
Dues & Capital Fund Charges
A member is required to pay monthly dues at the rate pertaining to his or her classification of membership. In addition, all General, Social, Restricted, Super Senior, Senior General, Dining & Curling, Intermediates, Out of Town members are required to pay a monthly Capital Fund charge.  Monthly dues are billed in advance. (HST is applicable).

Minimum Spending
The minimum spending requirement is calculated per year, using the end of the birthday month of the membership holder as the anniversary date.  Minimum spending is pro-rated upon joining and leaving the Club. All food & beverage purchases, Board-approved, sponsored functions, Greens/Guest fees, food & beverage from Club events and take-out orders apply to the minimum. Reciprocal club charges do not apply to the minimum. Members 80 years and older have no minimum spending requirement.
 
The Minimum spending requirements, by class, are as follows:
General, Restricted, Social, Dining & Curling members
$1000.00/annually

Intermediates over the age of 23
$500.00/annually

Members 70 years and older
$750.00/annually
 
 
Returning Member
Any member returning after 2 year absence having left as a member in good standing, comes in under same rules as legacy - 50% of initiation at the time of return. Members wishing to return within 2 year absence having left as a member in good standing, may return with payment of any dues and assessments missed during their absence from the Club.
 
 
Special Incentives may be Available upon request!
 
Changes in Membership
Membership resignations and changes from one class to another class, shall in writing notify the Secretary of of the Club of such intention on or before the 15th of the month. A resignation or transfer shall not be accepted until all monies and obligations due to the Club have been paid and satisfied.

When a membership classification changes due to a member's age, the billing change becomes effective on the first day of the month following the member's month of birth. When a member marries or remarries, the spouse becomes a member without applying for membership. Please notify the membership secretary of any additions to your family.

An initiation fee paid upon membership application and acceptance shall be credited toward the current initiation a fee due should one apply for an increased membership status. A member may apply to change his or her classification status up to a maximum of four (4) times during the life of the membership. For example, a change from General to Social is one change; from Social back to General is the second change.

In the event of death of a Member, the Board may grant to the widow or widower, membership to a class corresponding to the deceased's class at the time of his or her death, or to a lower class without initiation fee. In the event of a divorce, the Board may allow the former spouse to apply for membership in the Club in accordance with the application procedure and policies.

In the event of resignation, the acceptance of the resignation is dependent upon payment of all monies owing to the Club.

All membership changes must be Board approved.

Reinstatement
For any member of any shareholding classification, reinstatement or change in category from a non-shareholding classification will be at the discretion of the Board. Notwithstanding prior shareholding classification at the time of resignation or change in category to a non-shareholding classification, the payment of all dues and capital fees at the current General shareholder rate from the time of resignation through the date if reinstatement or from the time of change in category to a non-shareholding through to the date of change in category to a shareholding classification, and repurchase of a share. In addition, the reinstated member will be placed at the bottom of waiting list "A". A non-shareholder moving back to a shareholding category would be required to pay the difference in the dues rate.

Common Law
A Common Law relationship is established when the parties have cohabited continuously for a period of not less than one year. The shareholding member must execute a declaration or a form provided by the Club attesting to the declaration of the relationship and provide proof of co-habitation. The non-shareholding spouse shall then be entitled to spousal privileges, according to the membership classification.

Divorce/Separation
If the shareholding spouse is separated from his/her spouse and whether or not a separation agreement or a divorce proceeding has been commenced or finalized, the shareholding member shall instruct Beach Grove to revoke the privileges to which the spouse was entitled to, according to the classification of membership.

In order for a shareholding member to revoke privileges to which his/her estranged spouse may be entitled, the shareholding member must swear a declaration/affidavit or form provided by the Club confirming the separation and the date thereof. Thereafter, the shareholdin spouse shall not be responsible for any charges incurred by his/her estranged spouse. In case of separation, a common law relationship may only be established one (1) year after a notice of separation has been filed with the Club, and the declaration of Common Law relationship has been executed. A spouse of the shareholding member who was previously entitled to privileges as a spouse once his/her privileges have been revoked by the shareholding spouse, may apply for separate membership and upon payment of the applicable fees will immediately be brought into membership and placed at the top of restricted list "C". A shareholding member shall also have the right to revoke the privileges of his/her children.

Delinquent Accounts Procedure
The purpose of this policy is to ensure members pay their bill. If members do not pay their bill, this policy limits the amount of credit/time a member can receive before privileges are revoked.
 
Payment of account is due within 30 days of statement date. If not paid in full within 30 days, the account is delinquent.  A late charge of 2% monthly is charged on delinquent accounts.
 
If an account is not paid in full within 60 days of the statement date, the membership is automatically suspended, which means club privileges will be cut off.  The member must immediately provide a valid, acceptable credit card account to which the member’s delinquent and future delinquent club charges shall be applied by the Club, including any applicable credit card fees.  Any member, who shall be twice suspended for nonpayment of account, may be expelled from membershipat the Board’s discretion.
 
If account is not paid in full by certified cheque, debit card or credit card within 90 days of the statement date, the member’s account may be sent to a collection agency for payment.
 
If account is not paid in full by certified cheque, debit card or credit card within 120 days of the statement date, the member is automatically expelled from the Club.
